Lower Limb Reconstruction

We see and treat a large number of open fractures of both the upper and lower limb (open tibial fractures) each year (Approximately 140). This is in the context of a large multi-disciplinary team with our colleagues from orthopaedics, microbiology and physiotherapy. Our results are world class with one of the lowest infection rates of any large series and excellent union rates.

Open fractures are serious injuries. Treated poorly amputation and infection rates are high. We combine collaborative working with evidence based medicine and modern techniques to achieve the best results possible. Please contact us for further information. If you have recently suffered an open fracture timely treatment is essential to achieve a good outcome.

We are always happy to take on your care if you have recently suffered an open fracture or have done so in the past and have a complication. We can offer the entire spectrum of treatment from reconstruction through to amputation and often take patients from around the UK and abroad. If you would like to get in touch, please contact Debby.
